Q&A

Why do you use organic products?

Organic products have all natural ingredients in them. It is not harmful to anyone or the earth. It has no man made properties. It has nothing in it that will do you harm. I want you to love your hair, the way it feels and I don't want to put anything on my clients that may do them harm later in life. Did you know that what you put on your body, your skin can soak it in? It can get into your blood stream and into your bones. Have you heard, your are what you eat? Have your heard, you are what you put on your body? Look at your shampoos and conditioners. Do you want that going into your body? I sure don't.

When should I moisturize my hair?

Only when needed. If you have naturally dry scalp and hair, you should oil or put on a moisturizer before you go outside. If it is hot outside you need to protect your hair from the outside elements. The sun's rays can be harmful to your hair and skin. You put oil or moisturizer on your skin to protect it, why not your hair and scalp? In the winter time, you need to up your conditioning treatments. So your hair will not get brittle and brake. In the summer, put oil in your hair before you go outside or put on a moisture with sun block in it. With that said, you don't want to over oil your hair either. If your hair feels fine to you then you should not put anything on your hair. If you don't need to put oil in your hair and you put it in there anyway, you could stunt your hairs growth. If two people try to go through the same door at the same time no one will get through. It is the same for your hair. If your hair is trying to come through your scalp and you have to many oils or to much oil in your hair, nothing will get through. The oil is trying to go in and your hair is trying to get out at the same time. Yes moisturize your hair, but not all the time and don't put a lot when you do.

How long should I leave my hair styles in for?

I would not leave it in for longer than 3 months. If you do, your hair may start to dread in with the style and it will be hard for you or your stylist to get out or take down.

My wash does not lather up, it is not washing my hair?

Hair wash does not have to lather up to clean your hair. If your natural wash does not, it does not mean that it is not working. Just use your natural shampoo the same way you would the one that lathers up.

How long does it take to do the styles?

It depends on the person. Cornrows should only take about a couple of hours about 1-4. But it depends on if you are getting a design or not. Single braids take about 6-8 hours if you only have 1 person working on the head. If you have two it will go faster. Micro braids will take 8-12 hours. Bantu knots will take 1. Nulocs will take 8-12. Hair Weaves Take 3 Hours. Hair Extensions/ Weaves Take 2-4. Spaghetti Braids take 2 days to do. Dreadlocks Take 2-10 Hours. So when you come to get your hair done, make sure you have nothing to do for the rest of the day.

What kind of hair should I buy?

It is up to you. If you are getting micros you can get yaky or human. Yaky costs less so I recomend that. If you are getting single braids get synthetic braiding hair. It is only $1-$4 a bag. Same with cornrows. It all depend on if you are going to leave the ends open or not. If you are getting a weave see if you want straight hair, afro hair or if you want curly. If you are getting nulocs you can buy red hart yarn from Wal-mart. Yes, Wal-mart. In the sewing and craft ile. Get crowshet yarn.

Do I buy the hair?

Yes & No. You can buy the hair from me, but first look to see if I have the hair that you need. I may not have it in stock. If it is not on this website then I do not have it yet. Also you can get the hair before you come in. If you don't know how many bags to buy then call me or look up on my website (520)573-3483. Look also on the hair store's page. It will tell you what stores to go to for hair.

Where do I buy the hair?

You can go to any Sally's or you can go to Lee's on 22nd. Lee's has hair from the ceiling to the floor. You can also go to Wigaramas on Congress, or you can just buy it off the internet.

Does it hurt?

Only if you have never had your hair done before or it has been a long time. If it hurts to much we will stop. But, if you feel good then we will continue.

Do You Do Hair Other Than African American?

Yes, If You Have Hair I Will Do It. It Does Not Matter What Type Of Hair You Have.

If I just permed my hair should I wait to have my hair braided or twisted or put a weave/extensions in?

Yes!! You should wait at least 2 weeks, Your hair is very weak now and you need not do alot to it. If you come and get your hair done right after, your hair could brake out and you will be bold in some spots.

How Do You Wash Single Braids and Twists?

To me it is better to wash you hair when you are in the shower. Get your head soaking wet and put the shampoo on your head. Rub the shampoo on your scalp with the balls of your fingers and not use your finger nails. When you have done this to all of your scalp. push the remaining water and soap down the braid. Go in one motion down the braid. Do not go up and down on the same braid or you will cause frizzing, and it will look like you need to get your hair done already. Do this to the entire head. When you are done rinse your hair and scalp.  Ring out your braids and twists like a towel so you will not drip water everywhere. To dry do not use a blow dryer or a hooded dryer, this will take a long time. It is better to let your hair air dry. Wrap your hair in a towel and let it dry or go out in the sun. Going out in the sun is what I do.

What hair wash Should I use?

It depends on what style you have but , try to find a was that does not have alcohol in it. Read your ingredients on the back of the bodle. If it has alcohol in it, do not use it. It will strip your hair of some of the oils your hair needs to thrive and grow. Even if you are caucasian or any other race. You still need some of the oils to be left in your hair. If you take out all of the oils in your hair, your hair will be dry and your scalp will be more prone to lice and dandruff and other things like this. Alcohol----- BAD!!!. Try to switch up your hair wash every once and a while. Even if have used the same wash for the last 5 years, go to another brand. You will find out that your hair will not be lifeless anymore and it will have bounce and it will swing in the wind.  I have five different brands in my house. Your hair sometimes like our bodies, gets amuned to some of the things we do to it like the same exercises and the same shampoos. You will find out that the wash that once worked great for you, is not all that great anymore. Use another brand (without alcohol of course) and your hair will thank you.

Do I have to condition my hair, isn't washing enough?

Washing is good but conditioning is better. Also it depends on the style that you have to but you need to condition your hair to repair any damage that you may have done to it over the years. Conditioner repairs and tries to correct any damage. If you are wearing dreadlocks make sure your hair is fully dreaded before you start to condition it. If your hair is not fully dreaded and you use conditioner, all of the work you put into your hair may be lost. I mean your hair could come down. So wait till your hair is fully dreaded and you can tell if your hair is fully dreaded by the ends of your hair. Are the ends of your hair round? If most of your dreads are, then your hair is in the final stage of adult hood and you can condition now. This is for everyone----if your hair is damaged, I mean beyond repair, do a deep condition once a week, for 4 or 5 weeks. Take any conditioner, saturate your hair and sit under a dryer for 30 min. Don't have a hooded dryer? Do the same thing but put a shower cap on your head and leave it on for 1-2 hours, then rinse out.

How Long Does It Take For Dreadlocks To Fully Form?

It depends on your hair type. Some hair will be as fast as 6 months, some people will take as long as 2 years. It all depends on your hair type.

How Do You Take Dreadlocks Out?

Use a lot of conditioner. Saturate your  head with conditioner. I mean, put a lot on, and when you have put a lot on put on more! Leave the conditioner on all day if you can. Then start to take them out like you would braids. From the bottom up with a comb.

With the all natural products, will my hair smell like the food that was put in it?

No. I rinse your hair for a whole 5-10 minutes after to get all of  the food out so there will be no smell. If you want to follow up the natural products with some baby shampoo (only baby shampoo) then that is fine.
